AA ANNOUNCES WINNER OF FUNKIEST B&B OF THE YEAR AWARD 2011
The AA has announced the winner of the UK's Funkiest B&B of the Year Award at the annual AA Bed and Breakfast Awards. The worthy winner of the 2011 title is The Wensleydale Heifer, West Witton, Yorkshire.
With prizes provided by AA Hotel Services' partner Villeroy & Boch, this annual Awards event recognises and rewards the excellent services provided by the UK's very best B&B establishments. This is just the fifth year that the award for Funkiest B&B has been included in the event.
The Wensleydale Heifer is far from the traditional B&B. If guests are looking for the ordinary then they won't find it at this pub in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales. Each room at the Wensleydale Heifer is not only different from its neighbour, it has its own unique theme. Whether a whisky, champagne or chocolate lover, a movie, racing or animal lover, guests are sure to find a room to suit them down to the ground. For those wanting a romantic break then the True Romantics room is just the thing; or, for those wanting a bit of Yorkshire heritage, the James Herriot room should be booked. Every need is catered for and all the little touches, including bespoke Heifer Teddies, provided by David Moss and his team keep guests coming back again and again.
Alongside the funky accommodation is the outstanding two AA Rosette- awarded Seafood restaurant which is aiming to claim back the world record for the largest portion of fish and chips from America.

Simon Numphud, AA Hotel Services manager, said, "The AA is delighted to name The Wensleydale Heifer as the AA Funkiest B&B of the Year for 2011- 12. Individual and original, this establishment offers comfort and quirkiness in equal measures and is fully deserving of its title."
Commenting on his win David said, "When we moved to the Yorkshire Dales we felt we had to offer something a little bit different to become successful in these more challenging times, whilst retaining the professional service and quality product that customers have come to expect. With our themed rooms we certainly feel that we do offer something different and the fact that some of our rooms operated at almost 100 per cent occupancy even through the notoriously difficult winter season shows that our guests certainly like what we offer."
