Our meal on Saturday night was second to none and the breakfast on Sunday was simply the best! In fact everything was so delicious that we decided to have dinner prior to travelling home on Sunday night!

We forgot to sign the visitors book - just to say that we had a lovely meal on Sunday, staff were efficient and friendly, food excellent and the atmosphere magical. I loved my dark chocolate fondue with marshmallows - a unique idea. As for the singing lobster, I haven't laughed so much in ages - it had the whole front bar in hysterics!!

The chef very kindly said that my husband could order some Stinking Bishop cheese from him, we have not seen this to buy anywhere up here - we last had this in Wiltshire.

I would like to thank you on behalf of the Members of La Chaine des Rotisseurs and their guests for the excellent lunch you provided for us yesterday. The food was first class and the service exemplary. The event was greatly enjoyed by all present and your efforts received universal acclamation. Our sincere thanks.

Please pass on to your staff my personal thanks for their help and enthusiasm in making our Dales luncheon a truly memorable occasion. The kitchen staff under your guidance showed just how good Yorkshire cuisine can be and there can be little doubt that your reputation for fine food will continue to grow. We had a very fine lunch indeed!

I would also like to add a special thanks to Chris and his team for a job very well done. Any concerns I may have had about the front-of-house support for your kitchen were fully dispelled by the willing and competent service we enjoyed on a particularly hot afternoon. Everything was done to the very best standards and in a cheerful and accommodating fashion, which added greatly to the pleasure of our meal.

You have every reason to be proud of your team, they delivered a first class dining experience and the Yorkshire Bailliage and our visitors were most appreciative. Our second stay in the fabulous “Heifer” and it was such a pleasurable one. The “Heifer” room was mad, with some lovely “cow” themes all the way through. Food was quite simply out of this world, served by staff that are only too willing to help! We must return to this wonderful haven to sample the many themed rooms now on offer.

Dear David, Lewis and all the super staff, We have just spent the weekend at your fantastic country inn, we had The Middleham Racing Room and Chris showed us to it, what a first class manager you have. We came down for pre pre dinner drinks ha ha ! The canapes were very tasty and served with a beaming smile. Chris showed us to our table and I thought what a lovely atmosphere the restaurant had. Our meal was divine, my marinated tempura king prawns were fab ! Then back to the bar to sample the Whiskys!! Staggered up to bed haha, to find the box of chocs on my pillow,what a sweet thought. We just had a bit of room left next morning for an excellent breakfast and cheery waitress (oops, sounds like we ate her too!!)

We are already spreading the news in York about our Wensleydale find. If you need anyone to sample new recipes please contact us, we are only an hour away !!

I've just been to the Wensleydale Heifer (21 To Watch, January) for my birthday. We got the warmest possible welcome and it was the best meal I've ever eaten in a restaurant. I had steamed Shetland mussels to start, and there was more than I could eat - believe me, I tried. For main I had salmon loin with crab and coriander crust, and shared the white chocolate fondue for pudding.
Thanks for informing me of this gem - I just hope it's not booked up when I next want to go back!

Came here on recommendation from a friend and we were not disappointed at all. Wonderful welcome after a long drive up here. Lots of lovely touches that make the “Heifer” (as we now call it) an enjoyable experience. Bedroom was delightful, and the food was amazing. Just a belated note to thank you and your staff for a fabulous weekend at the Heifer.
My wife and I have been staying at the Heifer for about 15 years now on and off, I think you're the fourth ownership we've seen. As such we didn't know what to expect from the new set up but we shouldn't have worried, everything was great !

The service and food in the restaurant were first class, our friends (who had not been before) say it is the best meal they've had for many years!!! I tend to agree even though I'm a 'meat man' myself, the fish soup and baked Cod were superb.
I finished the meal with a glass of Springbank - what a treat, I just couldn't bring myself to go the whole hog and try the Glenmorangie - perhaps next time because there certainly will be more visits.
Once again thanks for the hospitality and keep up the good work !!

As guest of various continental rail companies I regularly eat at the top restaurants throughout Europe and as such am well able to judge eating establishments.

The outstanding quality of you food, the ambience of the dining room and the superb professionalism of the preparation makes Wensleydale Heifer a high ranking participant within the upper quartile of UK restaurants.
