Our Heifer Heritage

Father and son partnership Lewis and David Moss have owned the Wensleydale Heifer for more than 20 years and have created a real family atmosphere at the hotel. Most of the 35-strong team of front-of-house, chefs, kitchen, house-keeping and other members of the team that make the Heifer the special place it is are long-standing colleagues.

Our guests come from all over Yorkshire to eat and from all over the UK and internationally to stay. Everyone is welcome, from the smallest members of the family through to those furry friends with four legs (they even get a sausage of their own with breakfast). We even welcome muddy humans who may have been enjoying the spectacular Yorkshire Dales on foot!

We also welcome those enjoying cycling locally, families looking for a relaxed meal or stay, and those who come here for more formal events (we recently hosted a special charity dinner with HRH, The Princess Royal as a guest).
